IsisMas Unveils 2013 Costumes

IsisMas launched their 2013 Presentation “COUTURE…wee papa” on the 22nd March 2013 @ Metroplis in Wembley.
Theme
IsisMas 2013 theme 'COUTURE…wee papa ' celebrates high fashion and quality design; the breaking of all the rules, setting trends, perpetuating confidence. The untapped and untamed source of ingenuity and continuous reinvention, that occurs every year.
It began with your wisdom..."every mistake is a fashion". It’s now hard coded in our DNA, it’s programmed in our instincts, the natural flare, the ability to conjure up flamboyance, genius with colours and detail. And the cuts, the lines and the suave, all find their place in harmony on the day. You made carnival an exotic lifestyle …social and confident, passionate and exciting.  Source IsisMas

IsisMas out did them selves this year, I especially love their video introduction  presentation.

IsisMas Showcased 7 Costumed Sections and 1 Fun mas/ T-shirt section.
Each Pretty Mass Section has a Front line and a back line / Standard section. Although No back line headpieces were shown on the website, I assumed it will be uploaded soon.
There are also  2 Youth Costumes : Premier and HE

My Favourites : Roachas, i love that deep purple ,draping material around the bra bit and the large front-line headpiece.
Overall Thoughts: Although Coco doesn't seem to much of a pretty mass costume because of the addition of the Leggings, I can see this section being very popular with the ladies as the leggings 1) can hide a multitude of sins 2) the weather in UK is so unpredictable, that this will give an instant warmth.
The use of excess material for draping and tying gives the other sections the illusion of more coverage, and that is something most UK Masqueraders look for .. I Must say IsisMas has started the 2013 UK Carnival Season off with a Bang!!!!

Reading Carnival 2013 CANCELLATION!!!!!!

2013 CARNIVAL CANCELLATION STATEMENT

The New Committee of the Reading Community Carnival, would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the participants and attendees of the 2012 35th Anniversary Carnival event, for making the day a great success. We have been encouraged by the larger crowd in attendance and the positive feedback we have received, that our efforts and vision for what the event should be are working towards the community’s expectations. These changes, however, do come at a cost.

After careful consideration and consultation meetings with relevant parties, we have reluctantly made the difficult decision to cancel the forthcoming carnival for this year 2013. We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused those who have planned to participate. This decision has been made as a result of the rising costs incurred by the event and the lack of funding that is available to us in the current year. Reading Carnival has experienced a reduction in the amount of investment available to it in previous years. The new committee is now tasked with planning new projects to increase the financial viability of the next event, as well as renewing positive links with the wider community. This will take an additional amount of time to achieve, for what is a small voluntary organisation. The committee will also be working towards ensuring there is sufficient funding to sustain activities in the years to come.

We have formed strong links and will continue to work closely with Reading Borough Council departments, Thames Valley Police, Reading Buses and other agencies, in order to improve our event. All of these agencies have offered their generous support to the event over the years and are committed to continuing to do so in the future. We would like to ask our community to also offer us their continued support in this transition period, and to our planned projects and Carnival events.

If you would like to take part in helping us make Carnival 2014 and all future events bigger and brighter, please contact us at any of the address below. We look forward to working with our community in the future.

Nottinghill Carnival

Notting Carnival is one of Europe's Biggest Street festival and is always celebrated on the August Bank Holiday where every year the streets of West London come alive, with the sounds and smells of Europe’s biggest street festival. Twenty miles of vibrant colorful costumes surround over 40 static sound systems, hundreds of Caribbean food stalls, over 40,000 volunteers and over 1 million Notting Hill carnival revellers.

The Notting Hill Carnival usually gets under way on the Saturday with the steel band competition. Sunday is Kids’ Day. On the Bank Holiday Monday, the main parade takes place. It generally begins on Great Western Road, then winds its way along Chepstow Road, on to Westbourne Grove, and then Ladbroke Grove. In the evening, the floats leave the streets in procession, and people carry continue partying at the many Notting Hill Carnival after parties.
