So NHC 2013 is over and the Carnival Tabanca has started, as soon as  i ketch mehslef i will start my review of the road and upload pics.

But..... what would be interesting, is if a few masqueraders who played at NHC 2013 would like to share their thoughts about their personal road experiences.

Fay-Ann, Bunji Get Candid With Nick Bright of BBC1Extra

What’s a Carnival in London without an interview on the dynamics of Carnival with two of Trinidad and Tobago’s most embraced soca artistes? Well, Nick Bright of BBC1 Extra wasn't about to let the opportunity pass him by so with Fay-Ann Lyons and Bunji Garlin in his territory on the weekend. Bright took the chance to quiz them both on a number of things, even how Nottinghill carnival compares to carnivals around the world.

With several of T&T’s entertainers and radio DJs in the mix in the UK, the vibe at the 2013 Nottinghill Carnival is similar to that of other carnivals that have branched out from the mecca- T&T’s carnival, no doubt. Fay-Ann and Bunji Garlin performed at Fire Fete on the night prior to the interview and Bunji described the venue as ‘rammed out’… he then had to correct himself, realizing the audience that would have been listening to him. “Crazy, the place was ram packed… oh sorry, for those of you who don’t know what ram is, the place was packed..,” he said with a bit of humour. Fay-Ann then joined in, expressing that the venue was in fact filled to capacity.

Ambassadors of the Trini carnival, the Trinbago way of life and the culture, much like many of the country’s other entertainers, Fay-Ann and Bunji spoke about the food of T&T, letting it be known that when they travel, one of the things they miss most about back home is the local cuisine. Fay-Ann even dodged a little ‘entrapment’ by her BBC1Extra host, kicking into judicial gear and letting it be known that she does in fact enjoy the Trini-like/Caribbean-like cuisine that’s available in those parts.

Whats in your bag?

So its Costume collection time and its level excitement now as I  am sooooo ready for the road.
I am not sure if anyone gets as excited as me, to see what's in their goodie bag.lol lol but I think it maybe a different level as excitement compared to Trinidad expectations , as we tend to get Trini snacks when in Trinidad and here its less or no edible stuff, and more sample products,  but nonetheless i honestly look forward to them :) After all we are paying loads of £££ so we might as well get some freebies in our costume goodie bag right??!!

So I am playing with Euphoria Carnival This year and the pics below are the 2 pretty costume sections in the Band both had the same items in the goodie bag

All in all a good goodie bag...still wish i got some snacks...ha ha ha maybe im just greedy..lol lol

I also Played in Pure Lime Chocolate Mas on Carnival Sunday.

And i have no pictures of my goodie bag for Sunday, but dont worry there is nothing to miss as there wasnt much in the bag anyway,

BY BUS

London Buses will operate additional buses to serve the Carnival. Buses, however, will not enter the Carnival area from the first bus on Sunday morning until the first bus on Tuesday morning.

To the south of the Carnival area buses will start from Notting Hill Gate and to the North of the Carnival area buses will start from the Prince of Wales in Harrow Road.

Full details of the bus route changes are contained in the special transport leaflet available from London Underground Stations.

Bus stops within or adjacent to the area will carry displays about diversions or disruptions. However, please:

• Allow extra time for your journey, as public transport will be well used;
• Remember night buses will also be affected – the N7, N18, N28, N31 and N52 will be diverted or disrupted owing to road closures in the Notting Hill Carnival area.

BY TUBE

Ladbroke Grove: Station closed on Carnival Sunday and Carnival Monday

Latimer Road: On Carnival Sunday and Monday the station will close at 11.30pm.

Notting Hill Gate: will be exit only between 12:00 to 19:00 on 25 and 26 August. Circle and District line trains will not stop at this station between 12:00 and 19:00 on 25 August and all day on 26 August. There will be no interchange between Central and Circle/ District lines

Royal Oak: will be exit only between 11:00 and 18:00 on 25 and 26 August. The station will close on both days at 18:00.

After 6pm the station will close and the Hammersmith and City line will not stop at this station.

Westbourne Park: On Carnival Sunday and Monday the station will be exit only between 11am and 6pm. The station will close at 11.30pm.

Bayswater: Open on Carnival Sunday and Monday.

Queensway: Open on Carnival Sunday and Monday.

Paddington: It may be advisable to use this station instead of Notting Hill Gate/Royal Oak as both of these stations will have diversions.

Other stations: Other stations near to the Notting Hill Carnival are High Street Kensington, Holland Park and Queens Park.

UK Soca Monarch @ Fire Friday Concert

The UK Soca Monarch Competition, now in its fourth year will take place on Notting Hill Carnival Friday 23rd August 2013 as part of the Fire Friday Concert which is hosted by Poison UK. The UK Soca Monarch competition is the first and only event in the UK where the initiative focuses on providing an opportunity for Soca artists to showcase their music and creative talents.

The finals this year, which are becoming the ultimate pre-Notting-hill Carnival event, will be held at the Coronet Theatre, 28 New Kent Road, London, SE1 6TJ
