Trini Posse UK Band Launch

Trini Posse UK had their 2012 presentation on 28th April at The Abacus Bar in the City.
Heard from a reliable source that the vibes was nice with a performance from the UK's Machel Montano - 'Konata' who also hosted the event. All in all a good night.

Photos from the Launch can be found on Soca Scene

Catching up!!!!!!

As you may have noticed we have tried to catch up by posting as many UK Mass bands and their 2012 presentation and reviews as we can over a 2day period. This is because we have been toying with this Blog idea for some time now and we must admit we were hesitant and we also never had the time to set it up.
But here we have it; D Carnival insider UK. we have always had an opinion/comment on all the UK mass bands and their costumes or the fetes and events that we attend so why not put it into a blog and share our thoughts with all who wish to read.

and D Carnival Insider UK is born :)

Mangrove Mass Band Launch

Mangrove Mass Band 2012 Presentation 'Virtues of Athleticism' on the 20th April

Not much can be said from that photo so i shall reserve my opinion until i get better photos.

Dragons Mass Band Launch

Dragons Mass  Band launched their 2012 presentation '7 Wonders' on the 14th April

You can find more costumes on their Facebook page here. Some photos from their launch event can be found on Soca Scene

Here is a sample of the '7 Wonders' Presentation

                                                                             Isis

Parrot Fish

Northern Lights

Empress (Teenager)

Gladiator Male & Female

Snow Owl

Indigenous Chicken

D Insider view : Snow Owl is definitely my Favourite out of all ,but after 1 hour of me wuking up meh waist, i may not have any feathers left on my skirt/waist band. But i plan to visit the Mass camp to inspect it to see how wholesome it is.
I love the idea of a teenage section, even though the costume doesn't really look any different to the adult costumes.
What do you think of '7 Wonders' ? Leave a comment or drop me an email.

There you have it M2K 2012 presentation

D Insider View : definitely not impressed at all with these costumes the last 2 although they were part of the launch presentation doesn't appear on the site , sources say they have been axed (not confirmed ) but if they were axed I would say that was a good decision.
The only good think I can credit M2k for, is the use of material ,as you may know the weather in London is very temperamental and at least these costumes can keep any masquerader slightly warmer than the usual costumes. But no credit can be given to those granny-ish designs and colour mixtures for the last 2
This is one band I can rule out of my books for 2012 costume options.

What do you think of these costumes? Would love to hear your thoughts. Leave a comment or email me.

Nottinghill Carnival

Notting Carnival is one of Europe's Biggest Street festival and is always celebrated on the August Bank Holiday where every year the streets of West London come alive, with the sounds and smells of Europe’s biggest street festival. Twenty miles of vibrant colorful costumes surround over 40 static sound systems, hundreds of Caribbean food stalls, over 40,000 volunteers and over 1 million Notting Hill carnival revellers.

The Notting Hill Carnival usually gets under way on the Saturday with the steel band competition. Sunday is Kids’ Day. On the Bank Holiday Monday, the main parade takes place. It generally begins on Great Western Road, then winds its way along Chepstow Road, on to Westbourne Grove, and then Ladbroke Grove. In the evening, the floats leave the streets in procession, and people carry continue partying at the many Notting Hill Carnival after parties.
